Missing Inaction

Been down with the flu... you know, the one the shots didn't protect us from.

Hot topic of the day:  Brian Solis is asking whether or not PR firms should blog about their clients.  Whatever.  Brian Solis thinks all PR people are profoundly stupid... or at least totally ignorant about anything that is not printed on paper.  But that's fine.  Brian Solis is a yacker.

Here's my advice.  If you have something useful to talk about, then blog away.  If you don't, then just keep your hands in your pockets.  If you are not sure whether you have something interesting to say, call your dad or mom and ask them.

Just because you have the ability to blog doesn't mean you ought to blog.

  1. Come on...if that's what you got out of it, then you didn't read it. There's a whole great discussion going on and it's worth the read - and it includes some interesting perspective from customers, pr people, and bloggers. However, I think we end up at the same place.

And for the record, you have me pegged incorrectly...I'm in the "help PR" camp. To say otherwise is untenable. ;)

  2. Untenable indeed. If you are in the "help PR" camp, then you are the questionable counselor who is convinced a stiff paddle and routine spankings are the best way to get those campers happy. In the words of Otis Redding, try a little tenderness.

Btw, I read your entire blog; I always do. And I get the conversation, I just don't agree that PR is so vulnerable and hopeless. Then again, I don't think we even define "PR" as being the same thing.
